    You are welcome.
    I never asserted 1.

My assertion of 2 is that there was clearly contact and there wasn’t any exaggerated move. This wasn’t a Neymar or James Harden situation. She was knocked off balance by the foul. Watch it again. Watch as soon as her right foot lands. She’s off balance immediately.

    You most certainly did.
She was fouled. So right there the flop argument is over.

Right, meaning there was contact. Independent of what the ref did or didn’t call.

Any more words you’d like to put in my mouth without asking for clarification or are we good?

Well, she was fouled. After that it's all fairly academic.

Pardon me, I’ll be over here in the corner not giving two craps about what Hope Solo has to say about anything.

That's the key part IMO. Even if the contact was soft, when a defender goes in studs-up that high, he or she is not going to get the benefit of the doubt. Any league, any competition, anywhere.

Italy beat China. If the Dutch beat the Japanese, it's the U.S. and 7 Euro teams.

This is already a fun game. The Dutch attack fast and the Japanese get organized fast.

Rotten penalty shot call on Japan's #4...the kicked ball by NED hits her in the left ribcage then left bicep and the ref calls a hand pass.

Business as usual in the FIFAdom?

Yeah I’m not even 100% sure it hit any part of her arm and I’m pretty sure if it’s ruled to have hit another part of your body first than it doesn’t matter even if it does.

I feel for the Japanese team. Outside of the first 30 minutes, they outclassed the Dutch. Terrible way to lose.

Defense requires technique too. Players are taught not have their arms out in the box when a shot's coming off for that very reason. Doesn't matter if it's unlucky and/or unintentional. If your arm is out and it stops a goal-bound ball in the box, you're giving up a PK. The ref made the call immediately. Got to tuck that arm behind you.

But it hit her chest first. Does that negate any subsequent arm contact?

Refs get to interpret, but if the arm was away from her body then you're at risk of giving up a PK. If her arm was down at her side and the deflection caught her bicep there's probably no call. It's the arm position.

Is a handball in the box an automatic yellow? That’s the only possible explanation for how a yellow was given for that handball.
