    Scooter To Rehab In Daytona

CINCINNATI -- Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett will be in Class A Advanced Daytona on Monday to begin a rehab assignment.

“We have a plan set," Reds manager David Bell said on Sunday. "The first place he’s going is Daytona Beach. He’s going to be there for at least a few days, then I anticipate the rehab will continue somewhere else.”

The assignment will move because the Florida State League will be having its All-Star break.

Don't think he wants to hit free agency without an entire year of not playing.

He had been playing baseball but then stopped due to injury. The goal is for him to play the rest of the year so, by November, he can say that he rehad a baseball career.

has there been any word on why Scooter played the first game but was not in the lineup for the next two?

I mean, I think we can probably guess why, but I can't find anyone saying it on record.

They said the weather was bad and didn't want him to play on a wet minor league field.

    Yup.

The long rehab process from a severe right groin strain is near the finish line for Reds second baseman Scooter Gennett. It’s possible that Gennett could rejoin the team for the start of its next homestand Friday vs. the Cubs.

Gennett’s rehab assignment moved from Class A Advanced Daytona to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday as he traveled to meet that affiliate in Indianapolis. He is expected to play for Louisville on Monday and Tuesday.

“Nothing has been determined yet on the next step,” Reds manager David Bell said. “From a health standpoint, he’s good. Everything has checked out so far.”

“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

No doubt about that. I am still rehabbing my right groin strain I got in January skiing. Somehow during this time, I've picked up a left one. Sucks getting old. I'm scared to death to get on skis again.
