Iggy with a great job also, bailing out Garrett, and he was completely different than last night -- sharp, sharp!

With tonight's win, the Reds are a game over .500 at home at 18-17.

Also, everyone else in the NL Central lost... nice to gain a game on the entire division when playing the astros, especially while the Cardinals get shutout by the Marlins.
All in all a great night to be a reds fan!

When you're facing an Ace like Verlander that's exactly the objective ... Your best chance is to get to him early because he gets stronger as the game progresses. The third time through the order thing doesn't affect him. A batter's slash line gets worse!

Last night's game was another great game to watch. I don't know about anyone else, but by the 7th inning I was telling myself ... watching the Reds flash the leather, making plays when they needed to - while the Astros/Verlander just couldn't get a break, nothing was going there way - we were not going to lose this game!

This team last night was clickin'. And it also showed me that they can compete with anyone in MLB. Pitching makes that possible. But compete does not necessarily translate into Win. All it's saying is "I belong here".

Now the Reds aren't quite there yet. But I look at how they've played this year, and against some of MLB's best - and this team has had a tough schedule IMO - that's impressive to me, and more importantly, shows they are heading in the right direction.

And what we're watching this year is not he "final" version of the Reds either. Just hope they make the right decisions and build on it.

I don't think anybody is going to run away with this division. That's why there is hope for this season for the Reds.

I'd throw Diet Rich in there for good measure as well

Who would ever thought the Reds would be going for the sweep today? But that's baseball. It also helps that the Astros are missing Altuve,Springer and Correa. But we won't get into details. Get the win today and move on to Milwaukee with some real momentum.
