Not quite sure why MON would build a new stadium for a team to only play there 40 times a year. Then again the Trop was built on spec.

So what's the team name? Rayexpos? Exposrays? It's dumb MLB is entertaining this. If the idea is to relocate the franchise permanently to another city, just own it.

This is the worst idea I've heard in a while. And I read Twitter.

I actually think it's a pretty good idea. What's the #1 criteria for success? Local TV revenue. This would now have 2 local TV markets. Plus splitting the season means tickets are now at more of a premium. Would drive attendance at both ends.

I'm almost surprised the Oakland-Los Angeles-Oakland-Las Vegas Raiders haven't tried something like this in the NFL.

Either that, or you'd have two cities where no one considers the team to be "theirs", so they don't really care (especially when the team isn't good), and you've got 100% more invested in stadiums than if the team played in one city.

Love it, I would get to see MLB baseball again without paying a week's wages to sit in Fenway.

What free agent would willingly sign with them though?

Plus, Tampa Bay fans would surely take losing their team for half the season as an abandonment.

I just saw a headline that says, " The Tampa Montreal Bay Devil Expo Rays"
I think that has a nice ring to it
The television crews left and about 10 reporters remained in the room. That's when Price took his turn doing the talking.
What followed was a five-minute, 34-second expletive-filled tirade. The final tally was 77 uses of the "F" word or a variant and 11 uses of a vulgar term for feces (two bovine, one equine).

They only bottom-feed for free agents as it is.

    What fans?

For the record, I think they ought to just pick one city. Yet their 25-year shackle to the Trop runs through 2022. So maybe the best they can do is to partially move up to Montreal, play in Olympic Stadium and get a new park built for the 2023 season. Also, maybe it would get St. Pete to let them out of their agreement, allowing it to redevelop the land the Trop sits on (which means way more money to the city than having a stadium there).

Re: Rays to explore playing in Montreal part time

At the end of the day, two cities isn't viable. Neither city will end up considering it "their team", players won't want to deal with it, tv providers are going to laugh at him, etc.

It has disaster written all over it. If this is anything other than the Rays putting this out there to gain more leverage, they're idiots.
