Damn, prayers up for Big Papi.

    From Marly Riveria at ESPN:

This is what we know: David Ortiz was shot at a club/rest. in Santo Domingo; was taken to a local clinic. An attending doctor told our colleague @dSoldevila the bullet hit him in the lower back, went through-and-through. He's currently in surgery; doctors say he's out of danger.

Awful news. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Was it his 500th home run game in Tampa. What a sight to behold.

He's still in serious condition but apparently the doctors treating him consider him stable enough to take the air ambulance the Red Sox sent down there to a hospital in Boston, the Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said he expects him to get to that hospital tonight.
