    Re: Yankees Targeting Luis Castillo

The assumption behind this type of rumor is that the Reds are in constant fire sale mode.

That they must always be cutting salary to stay in business.

With a Castillo, it would be that Reds SOON won't afford him, so must be looking to dump him.

Well informed teams and fans, even if not Reds fans, should know that Reds are not in that mode currently.

I like German and Judge. Maybe if they kick in Frazier?

yeah. I'd be down for that.

This is the Yankees. Last time the Reds came out ahead in a trade was Van Snider for Hal Morris.

They and they’re fan base and their ministers of propaganda in the press basically think they are entitled that other teams give away their players. Like they are Real Madrid.

It feels like we would be moving backward for sure.

If the Yankees call I'm asking for Aaron Judge or otherwise something like Torres/Frazier/Garcia. If that's too much I advise them to look for cheap controllable pitching elsewhere with the talent of Castillo.
That's fair. You talked me into it. I'm on board with a deal centered around Torres or Judge, but nothing short of that.

I'd look at a talent rich team like the Padres. They aren't going to give up Tatis Jr, that is also a conversation ender, but they might at least listen on Mackenzie Gore. They could use a controllable guy at the head of their rotation and they tons of young talent even beyond those two top prizes. Francisco Meija, Luis Urías, Cal Quantrill, Logan Allen, etc. I don't know if I could pull the trigger, but SD could put together a good bundle of talent.
Exactly!! I think the Padres would be a great trading partner, but didn't they pass on him a few years back?

So is asking for Luis Castillo without giving up Torres. The Yankees can go pound sand.

I mean, fair, "go pound sand" is my default reaction to the Yankees, but where's the fun in this? Castillo for Torres isn't happening, so I guess we can move on from discussing a Castillo to NYY deal then.

You wouldn't trade Castillo for Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres, Domingo German, and Luis Severino?

I was kind of thinking the Rays. They need a lot now with injuries.

How about McKay and Franco for Castillo/Iglesias who says no to this.

A smaller deal J.Iglesias, Hughes and Hernandez for Adames and a prospect

He actually posted this in response to the responses it got.

I congratulate the Reds fans on twitter for their undying passion and belief in Luis Castillo.

The Yankees want the Reds Ace who's under control for 5 years? We're not talking about getting the Yankees prospects, we're gonna need a corner stone of their franchise to consider this. It would take them Aaron Judge +, Torres+++, offers like that for me to even consider this.

They had to give him back to the Marlins a few years ago when the Padres traded the Marlins damaged goods and Colin Rea.
