How would you like to evaluate it? In relief IP, Lorenzen ranks 11, Garrett is 36, Hernandez is 38, Hughes is 53, Iglesias is 54. They're getting consistent work, but they're not overworked. Most of these guys are on a similar pace to innings pitched from last year. As a unit, and then individually, they are not overworked.
How many times they get up and get ready to go into a game. Not the number of innings they pitch. When a Reliever warms up he has to "warm up"...ramp up the arm and shoulder to game speed on all the pitches he throws, in addition to mentally preparing for game speed. It doesn't matter how many innings he throws at this point. How many pitches of each type matters. A Reliever is only out there a short time. He's coming in to throw heat, to throw his best pitch on every pitch. He's not pacing himself. Those are what needs to be counted. Innings is irrelevant.
