Our old friend, Josh Smith comes in for Columbus to pitch the 9th, and nearly squanders a 4-run lead. Yikes! Louisville did bring the tying run to the plate, but to no avail. They lose 6-4.

Let's go ahead and wrap up the AZL-Reds game, even though they have only completed 6 innings. They trail 9-0. They only have 2 hits. And they have committed 6 errors.
Let's go ahead and skip the details. They aren't important.
Okay one detail. The shortstop for the team, who shall remain anonymous, made 4 errors. There was a certain symmetry to it as well. Fielding, throwing, fielding, throwing. In that order.

The pitching was respectable, save Manuel Cachutt's effort in the 7th.

2-6 on the night. Adios.
This has been an embarrassing season for the reds top prospects. Have any of the top 10 had seasons to be proud of?
I wouldn’t exactly say he threw a runner out at the plate. But, yes, due to a quirky play, he did get an assist. With men on first and second, the hitter singles to left. The runner on second tries to score. Bautista, the left fielder, throws the ball over the catcher, off the backstop. The runner who started on first then tries to score. The pitcher, backing up home, picks up Bautista’s wild throw and throws to the catcher, and they get the out at the plate on a very close play. If he had been safe, Bautista gets an error. Instead, he gets an assist for an awful throw.
