Louisville worked its way back into the game, but came up a bit shy 4-3. Bats' pitchers gave up zero earned runs.

Romano with 4 innings of 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 bases on balls and 5 Ks baseball.
Wandy Peralta is back, and blanked Columbus for one inning.
Tejay Antone gave up 6 hits and 4 runs over his three-inning stint. All were unearned.

Christian Colon singled and doubled, lifting his average to within an eyelash of .300 at .299.
Brian O'Grady doubled (20) and homered (22). He is massively pounding the baseball.
Sherman Johnson cranked out a solo shot (5) in the 9th, to pull the Bats within one run.

Chattanooga followed Louisville's lead against Jackson. Solo homer in the 9th, too little, too late.

Reiver Sanmartin gave up 3 runs in the first, and then the pitching staff frosted Jackson the rest of the game. Sanmartin ended up going 6, making this a quality start.
Ryan Nutof (2) and Cory Thompson (1) combined for 3 innings of hitless service out of the pen.

Jose Siri roped out 3 singles. Jose stole bases 19 and 20 on the year.
Ibandel Isabel dropped his 22nd bomb of the year on Jackson.

The Mustangs strike back with 5 runs and take a 5-3 lead.

Alberto Gonzalez brought his A game, striking out 6 over 3.1 shutout frames.
Ian Koch rehabbed a scoreless frame.

Matt LLoyd's 2-run double is the big hit for Billing so far.

Billings came from ahead to grab the loss, 9-6. At one point, the Mustangs led 6-4. The pen let it slip away.

Alberto Gonzalez, Ian Koch and Jake Stevenson combined to not give up a hit it 6.1 innings. The rest of the staff made up for it.

    Quin Cotton singled and walked.
    Matt LLoyd singled and doubled.
James Free singled, doubled and homered (1).

Dayton scored 13 on Friday. And then no runs on either Saturday or Sunday. They lose 10-0.

The pitching was rank. 'Nuff said.

    Miles Gordon singled and walked.
Bren Spillane singled, doubled and walked.
    Miguel Hernandez singled and walked.

    That was quick.

Greeneville is looking good through 5.5 innings, leading 2-0.

Graham Ashcraft with a huge bounceback game, 4 shutout innings.
Andy Fisher, as expected, is hanging up zeros.

Garrett Wolforth is responsible for both runs with a 2-run jack (1).

Well, it turns out that Greeneville also snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by a 5-3 margin. Leading 3-0 after 7, Greenville coughed up 3 runs in the 8th. The game went to extras, where Kingsport scored 2 in the 10th.

Gordon Ashcraft went 4 scoreless, and Andy Fisher tossed 3 more zeros onto the pile. Randy Wynne undid all of that, and more.

    Allan Cerda singled and walked.
Cameron Warren walked twice, and stole a base (2).
Mike Spooner walked twice, and stole a base (1).
    Garrett Wolforth smacked a two-run dinger (1).

I always said that July 7th was the luckiest day of the year. (7/7). Not anymore. Reds farm teams are 0-6 with one game remaining. If you count the Big Club, the organization is 0-7. That puts a lot of pressure on the AZL-Reds.

AZL-Reds have fallen behind 3-0 after 2. They did pull off quite a unique play to shut down the AZL-Dodgers-Mota squad in the squad. Albert Suarez was out at home 2-4-2-5-1-2-4-2-5-1. I think maybe they doubled up on the sequence, but still, 2-4-2-5-1 would be pretty stout on its own accord.

An organizational 0-fer. Hard to accomplish, but the Reds teams would not be denied. AZL-Reds fell behind early, and never threatened make it a ballgame.

Pedro Moreno provided 2 innings of shutout relief.
Thomas Lane struck out 3 in his inning on the mound. He did get charged with one unearned run.

4 of the 6 hits were for extra bases.

Luis Lopez doubled and was hit by a pitch twice. His OPS upped to 1.100.
    Ashton Creal singled and doubled.
    Sebastian Almonte singled and doubled.
    Jorge Sequera doubled and walked.

Miguel Lar threw 2 pickoff tosses down the right field line.
Wendell Marrero has been swinging a hot stick. Somehow, he wore a golden sombrero yesterday.

Bummer. Struggles are expected. Growth always comes from makng adjustments and how one handles adversity.

Old habits are hard to break. Perhaps after recent player comments, we should stop feeding the problem and stop representing players' abilities by posting their averages as if that has something to do with how well they are doing.

As fans we screamed for them to listen to us that it means nothing. Now that they all agree, maybe we should take our own advice.

You can start your own thread and post any stats that make you happy. I believe there are a lot of people out there that relate to batting average. If it's not the best stat going, who cares? I simply don't. Nobody is forcing anyone to read these threads. I get sick and tired of the arrogant, condescending tone that a number of people on this board have. Adios.

It is a baseball post on a baseball forum. If you get your gander up because someone suggests that posting averages that implies performance is something that perpetuates a long-standing myth, while the exact subject is also being discussed simultaneously on another thread, then I think I see the problem.
