    Vlad Gutierrez

    Let’s talk about him.

The numbers this year are kind of incredible.

I think this is one case where ERA sums it up: 7.15 ERA after 89.1 innings pitched. Wow!

Do you think the reds should give him the rest of this year and next starting or just officially move him to the bullpen and hope he can be an effective reliever?
What would you say.....ya do here?

Really no two ways about it, he's been awful. I really don't get why he wasn't sent back to AA after about a month or so, it's not as though he had thoroughly dominated that level. He's always had a HR/9 problem, throw in the new AAA ball and it's not shocking he's totally imploded.

I can understand the reliever point but I'd still continue down the path of him as a starter at this point, not like the farm is overflowing with pitching prospects who are pushing for his spot. If he's still abysmal next year it's probably bullpen time.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If he's ever going to be anything, it's as a reliever. Doesn't have a SP repertoire. Needs to be able to go full gas in short stints.

Vlad has shown me how dominant Robert Stephenson was as a starter... if you compare the two of them.

I wanted to sell high on him in the offseason. Well, htat's shot. So his greatest value now is as a player in the Reds organization. In the bullpen.
