    RIP Jake

You don't know Jake, he was the nephew of my sister in law. I remember "Jakie" as an energetic, toe headed spark plug, whom I saw once a year at a family holiday gathering. I liked him, he was always moving, always smiling. His mom and dad had troubles and drank too much and fought, and as he got older he got more tattoos, seemingly gangster related, and I knew enough to realize he wasn't a saint, but at the same time I thought he seemed bright enough to avoid real danger. Well, he wasn't, or didn't; we found out today he died of an overdose.
I sometimes feel lucky to have survived the gauntlet of young adulthood, but then what I faced was nothing like today. Heroin, it's for real dangerous.

Hug your kids and hope for the best. I'm certainly doing that tonight and maybe it will mean little Jakie didn't die in vain.
Next Reds manager, second shooter. --Confirmed on Redszone.

    Re: RIP Jake

I’m so sorry. I lost a friend to heroin last year. 34 years old and a son the same age as mine. I still think about him often. Such a waste. Hopefully Jake and Joe found peace.
What would you say.....ya do here?
