Well I guess rather or not you like the guys you named., stats aren't lying. They are scoring some runs but bullpen has let them down in the 2nd half. I'm pretty sure your Babe Ruth has only played in 11 of those games.

Just in case the Reds go the free agent route this winter maybe they will try this lineup and reserves. Just wishful thinking.

    Senzel - ss
    Gennett - 2b
    Votto - 1b
    Aquino - cf
    Suarez - 3b
    Puig - rf
    Ervin - lf
Barnhart - c (unless they make a concerted effort for Grandal - then everything changes)

Bench: Peraza, VanMeter, Casali, Galvis (maybe), O'Grady

Trade Winker + lower prospect(s) to AL team for quality middle reliever(s). If Puig and Gennett are not coming back then keep Farmer and try to sign an overpowering closer. Dietrich, even though I like him and his attitude, is most likely to be traded and we'll likely lose J. Iggy to FA.
I'm sure I missed something but, I'm a firm believer in team chemistry and this hypothetical team would be a good mix of youth and experience. Just letting the baseball bounce around inside my head for a bit.

There's a guy on the mound for CWS today named Bummer.

    We've been there before.

Bauer says he doesn't like having to hit..He'd rater get outs than make outs.

He's worked quite a few 3-2 counts, though, IIRC. I wouldn't worry too much about that unless the Ks really spike.

Nationals announcers talking about how surprised they are that Votto hasn't been choking up at all this series.

Better pitch there than any of the Angel Hernandez ones.

    Thom is wrong (again)!

While it is true that either the Reds or Dodgers won the NL West every season except one in the 1970's, it was not the Braves who won the lone remaining division title. It was the Giants in 1971.

    CIN: 70, 72, 73, 75, 76, 79
    LA: 74, 77, 78
    SF: 71
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.
