I have many fond memories of Marty and Joe.
I wish Marty all the best life has to offer.
Some will hate me saying this but I'm not going to miss Marty when he retires.

I hope Marty takes the woman from Cincinnati USA with him when he leaves, she's a channel changer for sure

Looking forward to going down there next Thursday and just soak it all in. I hope it ain't rain.
I remember when they hired Marty and I said "No one can replace Michaels. And who is this Brennaman character?"
He was in the same job for 46 years. A helluva an accomplishment in and of itself. So there was plenty of room for the good, the bad, and the ugly. IMO, he was a master of his craft, the way he presented the game. He was no more opinionated then the rest of us IMO. He just had a mic.
Marty's "popularity" problem, IMO, was primarily with the younger generation (analytics). He was traditional old school. Not like those two haven't clashed before. Brennaman isn't the only sports broadcaster this younger generation would have had issues with. And if many of the ghosts of all-time greats could speak up about today's game (approach), they'd probably not be too popular with the analytics crowd either (LOL).
Thanks for the memories Marty. Yes, you will be missed.

After Joe he didn't seem the same. That loss, frustration with perpetual team failure, or something else feeding an advanced cynicism, made him difficult for me personally, to listen to over the past few years.
That cynicism however, can't and won't erase the memories of years with an ear stuck close to an old AM radio 250 miles away, savoring every word about my team, too distant to travel to see, nor eclipse his legacy as a HOF announcer and longtime voice of the Reds.
