That's foresight, not hindsight. If you aren't certain that the batter is smarter than this then he doesn't get the greenlight. It's obvious Ervin isn't smart enough to have earned the greenlight.

Ervin has a .376 OBP and a lifetime .340. He’s normally had a solid walk rate, although less this year. He gets on base fairly often. That was the “current info.” Anybody can swing at a bad pitch.
