I’d normally agree with you, but I’m with Thom on this. Garrett was all over the place. Not the work of a premium reliever there.

It's less being critical of Garrett and more the way he expresses his frustration. "HOW can you walk that guy?" is a stupid statement. You walk him by throwing 4 pitches out of the strikezone before you get three strikes or a ball in play, and that's not something Garrett was INTENDING to do.

Also, why do we need our PBP guy to weigh in on this at all? His job is to call the game, not give us his brilliant color commentary.

Let's not cherrypick stats. He has 2 hits in 19 PAs for a whopping .133 BA vs LHPs. His OPS is .514. Kudos to him for coaxing 3 walks leading to that .316 OBP, but that's about all he has. The PAs I've seen of him vs LHPs has looked "disastrous".

Any selection of 19 PAs is going to be cherry picking stats. 19 PAs is not nearly enough to make any kind of conclusion off of, especially when there's a larger, though still small, sample from AAA that shows he's actually good against LHPs. I'm not saying he should be playing every day against lefties, but the 19 PAs so far should not be a determining factor
