I'm no David Bell fan but it's not bells fault he's on the roster and the fact that they decide to give him a contract extension

It wasn't a save situation. Clearly not his fault.

You realize that a guy like Votto who moves slow may very well have bunted into a double play or into a fielder's choice at 3rd, right?

You're acting like it's some sort of guarantee.

Once again bell refuses to play "small ball". the personality of the game was definitely low-scoring so you play for one run by bunting when you had first and second and no one out. If votto cant bunt, pinch hit with someone who can. I also fault Joey for not taking one for the team. With the shift on he could butcher boy one down the third bas line and walk to first. If you don't want to do that then have the batter square and take and double steal. Again with the shift on the pressure is on the defense.

You know it's not your year when you head into a 4-game series 8.5 games back, win 3 of 4, and leave town 9.0 games behind.

I would be willing to bet the Marlins had a guy near firebase they aren't going to leave third Base wide open and that situation

Not asking Votto to bunt makes sense to me. Not having a few of your relievers go more than one inning when your offense was terrible and it looked like the game could go for a bit was what I thought didn't make sense.

    10 losses for our closer
I came into this thread just to see who had the pre-call on that homer. Well done.

Will the Reds FO take any heat for pretty much giving Iglesias money for no reason?

I'm surprised the trolls stayed away for the first few games of this series, then popped back up after this game. Shocked.

While the big part of the blame has to go to Iglesias another big chunk of it has to go to the hitting. They got three hits and zero earned runs against a pitcher who was struggling big time in AAA. That just will not cut it. Also using all the relievers that Bell did goes back to my theory in that the more relievers you use the better the chance of one of them blowing the game. IMO BobSteve is a perfect candidate to become a three inning reliever specialist. He's been a starter and knows how to handle going multiple innings.
