    Re: Hurricane Dorian

Well, this thing is just about out of Florida. 2/3 of its' story has been written. One of the worst ever for the Bahamas and then a big zero for Florida. (not complaining). As far as Euro vs GFS, on Friday Euro was showing this thing as coming up the Florida peninsula and GFS has it slightly off coast. This time GFS was right.

Now the rest of story is whether it will impact anywhere on the east coast. I think Georgia is pretty much off the hook already, so the question is South Carolina/North Carolina.

Lots of pictures of the devastation are now being shown on tv.

Its getting dark and windy here, its well on its way. I live far enough in should be ok other than possibly losing power, but hate it for the coast and east that are still recovering from the last few years of bad storms/flooding. My BIL just moved back in his house 2 months ago after having to gut and rebuild his house after last year.

I have several friends who live in hurricane territory. They always get all offended when I ride them mercilessly to evacuate if there's any chance at all that they'll have to ride out a Cat 3 or bigger in their homes.

I've been through one hurricane and it wasn't even a category 3. No way I'll ever sit through another; you sit in your house for 24+ hours and listen to godzilla tearing up houses and beating up everything around you, wondering whether a tree will crush you, or if your roof is going to lift off. Stuff can be replaced, lives lost are gone forever and hurricanes don't know the difference.
