The bullpen has deteriorated as the year’s gone by.

But the Reds’ offense stinks and especially on the road.

It’s a deadly combination.

I'll give you credit, you've been singing this tune for a while and you've been dead on.


If The Reds are going to use their bullpen so heavily (and to be fair most of MLB is too), they've got to go out and get some more high quality arms.

You can't rely on the David Hernandez's and Jared Hughes' of the world to carry all of those high leverage innings.


They've gotta fix this pen in the offseason.

Carlos Martinez has basically reinvented himself as Sergio Romo as a reliever.

All breaking balls all the time.

Went to make a pot of chili at 3-1 Reds. Told my son that by the time I got back they wouldn't be ahead any more. Let me guess...he pulled Mahle too early? Was it, by chance, a double switch?

it is tough to get those arms.....every year it seems like there are a few teams that clearly invest in their bullpen, and every year (sure it is not true, but it seems this way) those arms that had 2.3 ERA's last year seem to pitch near a 7.2 ERA the next year. If am not sure how reasonable this method is, but I recently heard someone say that fresh arms is the best strategy.....so if you can have a good closer, some Left handed pitchers and a solid set up guy or two.....just make sure the other 3-4 guys are young and have 2-3 similar guys in AAA. Then move them up and down to keep them fresh.
