The Reds lately are just impossible to watch.

Pitcher can’t catch a flip from Votto. Wild pickoff throw. Weak offense loses baserunners with bizarre steal decisions. Bullpen consistently failing to hold leads.

Starting pitching remains solid, even Disco today not that bad.

But they lack offense, bullpen, and are weak fundamentally. Hate to say it, but Cards are better in part because they know how to play the game - as they showed this weekend.

I don’t think Reds aren’t trying or aren’t focused on improving. They look bad because they are playing badly. But I never assume it’s a lack of effort or focus by players or management.

They just aren’t that good yet - they need better players, and maybe still better coaching in certain aspects of the game.

best way to see a reds player improve: let another team have him. best way to kill a player's career: send him to the reds. the team is just snake bit with trades. sonny and freddy are the rare excepitions.
