    So he’s a platoon hitter.
Bell's "trying to win" cred went out the window when he continued to run David Hernandez out there in high leverage situations when The Reds were still in the race, in addition to refusing to demote Iglesias.

I heard more than once he was "showing confidence in his guys", etc etc

Either Winker is a player you think you can build around or not

Not every left handed hitter comes to the bigs and immediately mashes lefties. He'll never learn to do it if you decide he's a platoon bat in his 2nd full year, both of which he's missed significant time.
It doesn’t seem that the FO+Bell see this team as a “here’s our starting 8” kind of team. I think that’s why Galvis is here. JVM is playing all over the field. Senzel can play infield and outfield. Winker has been discussed already. So the idea that a player is a platoon isn’t really what it used to be

Winker isn’t a player to “build around” in the sense of a star who does everything well. Winker simply hits RHP very well. That’s his role, it has value. But it doesn’t mean you have to play him against lefties.

Thankfully Reds have Ervin who does hit lefties.

Bell wasn’t so lucky in the bullpen. He used Hernandez because he didn’t think he had enough good late inning guys. Which he didn’t. And still doesn’t.

Maybe Harper will sacrifice. That’s my best shot at looking on the bright side of this situation.

As a fan, I have the following ultimatum for the Reds.

Get this pitcher out or I’m shutting off the game.

    You have one more batter.

If we didnt have Aquino or Suarez, this team might get shut out every night. Sigh

I got cocky when Iglesias touched .300 and .750 OPS....now he can spend the final month slumping down to his normal numbers.

Ervin continues of late to look way better vs righties than lefties.
