Also, there are already 7 batters in the NL with as many or more than 38 which was the most all season last year. Looks like at least 10 guys will eclipse 38 this year.

One-two-three for Reds in sixth. Probably they got tired of leaving men on base.

This game is an exercise in frustration.

Two crap calls on Aquino. Awfully hard to hit when the ump calls two different pitches Out of the strike zone strikes

it is still weird to me that the NL Batting Champion just does not seem to mean much anymore....as a kid, it was always a big deal, and I always knew who the batting champion was that season.....it was names like Tony Gwynn, Willie McGee and Tim Raines.....and now it is Bryan Reynolds?!?!

They have hit into 4 double plays tonight in 6 innings, it's kinda hard to a score a lotta runs when you do that

I still appreciate it. That kid can really hit. It's just that AVG has been really marginalized by the new stats. I think it remains a skill to be admired (provided you're getting on base at a much higher clip and doing other things well with the bat).

Amusing news... fight in Pirates clubhouse ends season of Kyle Crick with torn finger tendon. Fighting with Vasquez.

Even better news... Cueto shut out the Pirates out for 5 innings tonight on 1 hit.

FWIW I watched Sheffield in person shut down the Cubs on Labor Day in Wrigley. The Cubs offense didn’t manage anything until the bullpen came in, and then they started teeing off.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

If we pinch hit for our DH Blandino does that mean we lose our DH and the pitcher will have to hit for the remainder of the game?
