Today the Reds will wear 1999 throwback uniforms.
I loved that 1999 team, they were exciting an entertaining. I didn’t care very much about black becoming a primary color of the uniforms though.

“I think they are the best, possibly in all of baseball. I like the sleeveless look – from what I hear they’re real comfortable to play in – and I really like the black trim. I think they are really classy.”

I hear you. U.C football has some all-black uniforms. IMO, they look like a bunch of cockroaches running around the field.

I like the sleeveless vest too but would rather the vest not have pinstripes. Have red shirts be worn under the vest with Red hats. I wouldn't mind black or blue trim and inside the wishbone c on the front of the vest.

Today, the Reds are wearing the 1999 throwbacks. The Reds were 96-67 in 1999, finishing the regular-season schedule tied with the Mets for the wild card at 96-66. The Reds lost a one-game playoff (the 163rd game) to the Mets, 5-0 at Riverfront Stadium. The Reds were managed by Jack McKeon.

On September 22, 1999, the Reds defeated the Padres, 4-3 at Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego. The Reds lineup that night:

    Mike Cameron cf
    Barry Larkin ss
    Sean Casey 1b
    Greg Vaughn lf
    Dmitri Young rf
    Eddie Taubensee c
    Aaron Boone 3b
    Pokey Reese 2b
    Ron Villone p
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Five uniform numbers in today's starting lineup were worn in 1999:

#4 -- Jose Iglesias and Jeffrey Hammonds
#6 -- Phillip Ervin and Gookie Dawkins
#7 -- Eugenio Suarez and Mark Sweeney
#9 -- Jose Peraza and Hal Morris
#44 -- Aristides Aquino and Mike Cameron
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Pretty bad pitch by Bauer leads to an RBI double for Cano.
