I don’t see much difference. Each of those position, CF and 2B, can result in serious injuries. Scooter Gennett might not recommend playing second to stay healthy. Alex Blandino as well. Dustin Pedroia.

It’s all going to depend on the best hitters available, whom Reds can acquire, what positions they can play.

I think he'll get in less than 100 games next season and will be less injury-prone at 1B.

I think he's fine in CF to be honest, but I'd be on board for a move to 1B more than I would 2B. But there is an obstacle to that plan and Senzel will be in his walk year by the time that obstacle goes away.

This is where I'm at. I keep seeing Ron Oester's knee getting obliterated by a base runner while he's trying to turn a DP every time I hear that second base is a safer spot. It simply isn't.

I like Senzel in CF, but I really think they need to force him to take the George Foster approach out there. Cover your ground and make your throws, but forget about running into any walls out there. It's looks spectacular, but not necessary to record the outs 99% of the time anyway. On the plays where it might be, play the carom and stay in the line-up.

Will we be sending Votto out there when his OPS dips below .750? That's a great way to keep attendance low. The position where the OPS needs to be in the Top-3 on the team. It was bad enough this year. Past age 32, every year will get worse (sucking in a steady downward spiral) except for one dead-cat bounce (like a dying person's last breath) season that approximates their age-25 season, which I think Votto gets in 2020, though I think it will be closer to his age-24 season with an OPS between .880-.900. But, 2021 and after he'll fall off a cliff, never seeing an OPS above .750 again. I would really hate to waste Votto's last good season next year while we also have the Starting Pitching. Senzel is a part-time, injured player next season. They have to find a CF, if just for one year, and a Closer, if just for one year.

I was for dealing Votto when he was an MVP candidate and the Reds were tanking. Now they are stuck with him and they aren't going to bench him.

Getting a CF (doesn't have to be a star CF, just a solid one) would be my top priority this winter. Senzel, shoulder willing, would be moving to 2B.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I think getting a bat (or three) who can play up the middle is the biggest need. Decide where everybody else goes once they see who they can get. CF seems like the least likely spot to find a bat right now but I'd be fine with one and moving Senzel if they can.

If I could have my dream, I'd sign Grandal, Didi and Zobrist and leave Senzel in CF. If Aquino bottoms out, I might move Senzel back to 2B and mix and match in RF.

I'm intrigued by the idea of bringing in JBJ when he gets non-tendered by the BoSox.

I'd also kick the tires on a trade for George Springer.

feels like we're giving up on senzel in centerfield too soon. giving him 2 years and not just 1 would be too much?

I'd support this idea, with Senzel moving to 2B.

I'd still want a real bat at SS. And a whole slew of arms for the pen. And Dickerson or someone similar in the OF mix. And Grandal.

If you can find a 2B who's available, cheaper, and can put up a league average offensive line or better while earning a couple WAR, that's another option.

There's more than one way to do this, IMO.

All we have been told about Senzel is how great a hitter he is (or will be). We’ve already divested ourselves of Trammel, Downs, etc. and turned down all offers on Senzel. So shouldn’t the Reds do whats in the best of Senzel and the team to get the most out of him offensively? If that means 2B, then do it! Quit this JVM, Peraza, Galvis, Scooter talk and give your former #1 prospect his natural position.

I’m good with some other’s suggestion ti give Aquino a chance in CF if an outsider isn’t available.

The pen would be my top priority. But outside of that, this is priority 1A

I’m not meaning this as snarky, but what makes you think Aquino can play CF?

Aquino has the speed and the arm to play there as much as several other options mentioned. Not sure it would work, but it's not out of the question IMO.

As for the team, any plan that doesn't involve seriously upgrading the offense is doomed to fail. Eckersley, Gossage and Fingers in their primes wouldn't get this team over .500 without scoring more runs.

Ervin, Schebler, Winker...none CF material either but there they were...I’ve been surprised at AA’s speed (I think he’s 5/5 in steals).... maybe not the best choice if another true outside CF can be obtained. I’m just firmly believe Senzel needs to be at 2nd regardless, especially after this latest injury.
