That's right. There isn't any in college football. Its basically the same set of teams every year. This NIL won't change that. Maybe Texas and Tex A&M will jump in but other than that it will be the same old crowd. This NIL business will just bring more corruption. Just in a different form than before.

This NIL stuff is a conundrum for me. While I'm happy to see these players getting paid, the point is that they are being paid and that's really not what college sports is all about. And I realize players have been paid under the table for ages and this is basically legalizing it. I think there could be problems within the team. The wide receiver is jealous that the QB is making more money than he is. QB makes more money than the coach so he does what he wants. Booster who paid big NIL money for a player who hasn't panned out pressures coach to play said player.
And, of course, we all know that young men with a lot of money don't always make the best decisions off the field. I really don't know what should be done if anything. I know that if fans want to see professionals, they will watch the NFL. I think they want to believe that the players decided to attend their alma mater because of more aesthetic reasons than money. I think there's going to be a lot of unintended consequences from this.

I was worried about how this pay to play stuff was going to affect college athletics...and then Reuben Owens (#1 RB in the class of 2023 from TX) committed to Louisville today, and all of a sudden I'm okay with all of it. There's no way a kid like that even thinks about Louisville unless there are some serious financial implications. Same for a number of other members of the inexplicably highly ranked 2023 class for Louisville.
They also have a #2 ranked WR from California in that class. I think they have a top 5 QB as well.
Only problem is until they actually sign commitments mean nothing. If Satterfield doesn’t produce this year and other coaches smell blood the commits may not hold up.
And with Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC the Governors Cup is likely going away. UK is fighting hard to keep it but depends on how many conference games Kentucky has to play.
I wouldn't think Knoxville would be an area that could "buy guys" but apparently this coach disagrees:
https://allfortennessee.com/2022/06/...e-coaches-nil/“I’ve been really impressed with Josh Heupel. He did a great job with (QB) Hendon Hooker. Obviously, they had some talent there. He’s doing a good job in the portal. The portal gets Tennessee back in the recruiting game. You can go out and buy these guys….”
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/oth...90040b45&ei=10According to Greg Swaim of the Swaim Show, the Big Ten is expected to extend invites to North Carolina. Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Miami. Meanwhile, the Big 12 is expected to invite NC State, Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Pitt.
The SEC would get Florida State and Clemson.

The big10 gets everything they could want and the SEC gets 2 teams in the same foot print?
Not buying it.
