Pritchard will also add to the bench a rotation player at the trade deadline.

The Warriors seem to have remembered tonight that they need to run through Dray.

Isaac looked a lot better tonight. It was the 1-13 from Vucevic that hurt.

Fultz is special. Really hope we get rolling at some point with him as the starter

Toliver redeemed himself tonight (he had the team's highest Net Rating of 12.1, the team's highest +/- of 8, and the 14 minutes he was part of the starting lineup, it had a Net Rating of +22.8), playing about as good as he can play. It was definitely a quality outing for him.

After running out to a 23-4 lead, POR let SAS back in it and was down 19 with 5-1/2 minutes left before Lillard Time took over, scoring the last 18 points for Portland and having his final shot as time expired from the corner fading away go three-quarters down inside the rim and bounce around twice before popping out giving the Spurs a 3-pt win in San Antonio.

Just goes to show what can happen when - with all due respect to Thibs - a dinosaur of a head coach, who still had a tendency to coach rotation-wise as if were 2011, is replaced with a bright, young coach.

While this is certainly true, Oladipo's likely to have minutes restrictions from the outset. It's doubtful if he'll be able to start and log 33 minutes a night for awhile.

I probably ought to apologize to the Spurs for ever doubting them. They're 3-0 and Pop will make it work even if I can't begin to figure out how he's doing it.

Assuming Oladipo returns without a hitch, and can at least contribute for at least 25 minutes a game, Pritchard may not be forced to go that route if 1)The bench elements (including the newcomers) can come close to performing at the level of their career per minute norms. 2)Goga Bitadze, who missed most of the preseason with an injury, can contribute, as they're bringing him along slowly, though his potential is very high.

As for examples of point number 1, McBuckets is really struggling and Aaron Holiday has been no factor at all this young season, having been bypassed in the rotation by T.J McConnell. Who saw that coming?

For many teams like IND, it'a matter of finding a workable 2nd Unit

Pritchard is wise enough to have the patience and let the first half play itself out and then determine what course to take. If Nate can't get them projected to have a workable playoff rotation, then the move will be made.

On top of that, neither of their first rounders from this draft, DeMarre Carroll or Lonnie Walker IV have logged a second of game-time this season.

It may well begin with Lamb coming off the bench with Sumner continuing to start until V.O returns.

ORL's Starting Five have been caught taking their experience for granted. They thought they would just roll over opponents who lacked playing time together and they came into the season mentally unprepared. POR did it in 2016-17 and 2017-18 and it took them two months just to begin to recover. I don't think ORL's starting five has the experience to change gears until it's too late and I now see them missing the playoffs and paying the price for not coming into this season hungry enough. It's not the Coaches fault as all of them always try to preach mental preparedness to start the season. Vukevich got his contract and lost his hunger. Fultz, Aminu and Ross are all hungry, while Isaac did hit the weight room. Wouldn't be a bad idea to swap out the backcourt while inserting Aminu into the game sooner (Gordon's psyche couldn't take a benching, but he could deal with staggering minutes if it's explained to him correctly).

Lamb is close to ready, I understand. He certainly can average 14+ off the bench while controlling pace for Nate.

Watching the transitions in player personnel and the coaches trying to find combinations that work for some of these teams is jaw-dropping.

A trade involving Aaron Gordon might be the best thing for this team long term. We could use some cap space, his deal is extremely team friendly (19.8 this year, 18.1 next season, and 16.4 the season after that), and he's still young - 24. We could move Gordon and still be a playoff team this year, even if draft pick(s) are the main part of the return in the deal.
