Speaking of people named Finn, if Kraftwerk is excluded, how will Split Enz ever make it? Okay, so I'm the only person in the world concerned about Split Enz.

It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.

Rundgren did more as a producer than as an act .... its close. Feels like voting in Joe Torre. Good player, good manager.
Pat Benatar should be in. I suppose Whitney Houston will make it, but I wouldn't vote for her. I like all kinds of Music, but nothing gets me to change the station or turn it off faster than Dave Matthews. It just sounds like noise to me. I'd say Judas Priest and Motorhead are bands that helped shape a genre and should be in. Todd Rundgren probably belongs for his overall contributions, but he had more hits than many realize. More than Joan Jett who is in and many of the others on this list anyway. I like the Doobie Brothers even though the Michael McDonald era is a step down from what they were. They should be in. If I never heard any of the rest of this list again, I wouldn't miss them. I do like Bang a Gong, but its not enough for me to vote for T. Rex
So my five would be :
Pat Benatar, Judas Priest, Motorhead, The Doobies and Todd Rundgren.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I feel personally attacked here.
They took "jam band" as mainstream as that genre is ever likely to get and were the face of that subculture (along with Phish, who has the more hardcore following but without any of the crossover) for a generation. If you were in college between 1996 - 2006, these guys were the soundtrack of your dorm. They've released close to 100 live albums, and they hold the record for most number of albums released to debut at #1 on the Billboard Charts. They're also one of the last of the "Summer Shed" acts going and carrying on the Dead's legacy of yearly stops at outdoor music hollowed ground like Alpine Valley, SPAC, Deer Creek, and the Gorge.
No brainer addition, IMO.
Hard agree.Motorhead - We've already been deprived of the greatest HOF induction speech in history because Lemmy's dead. Congratulations RnRHOF on not getting your act together sooner. It's going to take 100 musicians to approximate the level of racket three guys in Motorhead would have made. I nominate Springsteen to stand in for Lemmy on the singing. If both Motorhead and Priest make it, it's the heaviest induction ceremony ever. It they cancel each other out, I suggest a riot in Cleveland.
The induction should be accompanied by a Triple-H promo.
FYI: My five are Benetar, DMB, Motorhead, Judas Priest, and Biggie.

By that logic, Dave Matthews Band should definitely be in. Perhaps ahead of everyone else. As of last year, the band has sold more than 100 million concert tickets and a combined total of 91 million CDs and DVDs.
They've also had longevity. They've been playing large amphitheaters/arenas now for almost 25 years.

I would wager 99% of people couldnt name one song.
Success is relative, you probably mean units in Europe, which you know, this is a US thing.
Keep trying- let me guess the Beatles loved them privately.

You have to really be a music geek to know who Kraftwerk is.
David Hasselhoff has moved units all over the world, too. None in the United States, but all over the world.

The only song I can think of by Kraftwork is the one about a calculator.
I'd vote for Pat Benatar, Dave Matthews Band and Soundgarden.
Go Gators!
Kraftwerk has influenced many bands. I hold that as a strike against them.
