Don Johnson has a US charted album.

Anyway, Kraftwerk is in 14th place right now.

No, they don't stand an excellent chance here.

Getting top 5 in the fan ballot is worth 1 vote compared to the 1,000 member ballots that will be submitted. Where you finish in the fan ballot means just about nothing. If a pile of RnR historians and artists feel Kraftwerk was mega important, and they are the wellspring from which all electronic music flows (including every hip hop backbeat), then they're getting in.

If NiN and Soundgarden aren't worthy 90s bands then what does a worthy 90s RnR HoF band look like? That list has to be less than 10 or 15...

    If you say so.

They'll get in, but it might take a few more years. Rage and Jane's are in that same sort of limbo. The Pumpkins and the Pixies haven't even gotten a nomination. I suspect there's an order of operations argument that takes place with these sorts bands. Like, are they next in line for their era/genre?

There has also been such a dearth of quality, mainstream rock that a lot of the 90s bands simply don't feel as old as they really are.

I’m boycotting the HOF until Harvey Danger gets in.

I've come to the conclusion that there are actually great bands, but radio's so dead that no one's hearing them. The only rock on the radio is, effectively, oldies. No one plays the new stuff. We probably all ought to know Amanda Palmer's "Do It with a Rockstar" by rote, but radio wasn't there to flog it.

    Motorhead, Depeche Mode.

Love Personal Jesus. I could listen to that on repeat.

I get the Judas Priest nomination, but god do I loathe them. Doobies make me think of BJ and the Bear. I cannot decide if that is a good thing. Was never a Benetar fan.

I get the reason for some of the nominees, just not my cup of Mt. Dew.

That's not a new phenomenon though.

Portishead should have been a household name. Now it's bands like Middle Class Rut, Death Cab for Cutie, Von Grey, Let's Eat Grandma getting some acclaim but the mainstream is missing it.

Honestly I get more music from YouTube than I do the radio. It's how I discovered the magic that is Meg Myers.
