Strasburg opts out of remaining 4 years/$100 mill in search of more years/money, and he’ll probably get it. He’s from San Diego so the Padres could heavily pursue him.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

For the record, his contract was heavily deferred, so it worth less than $100M in today's money, making opting out an easy and obvious decision.

They were apparently going to decline his $8.5 million option and decided to get something for him while they could. That pricetag doesn't seem very steep for someone who has been a solid mid-rotation performer, but as we know teams are always looking to cut costs.

Surprising coming from the Brewers though, given that they’re among the most willing to spend the last few years.

The only news here is Mella. A bit surprised they dropped him from the roster.

Also interesting they shed DD right now. Didn’t wait for non-tender process. Maybe still talking to other non-tender candidates about salary requirements.

He'd be a great bench LH bat if only he could actually play the OF, which he really can't.

Jacoby Ellsbury is off the Injured List for the Yankees! Apparently it's a Twitter "thing" every time it happens. Last year for it, though.

Angels opt out of Kole Calhoun. Could be an interesting target for the right price. Solid glove too.

For those interested in Gregorius he did not get a qualifying offer from the Yankees, according to reports. So that means three suggested Reds targets, Didi, Grandal and Moustakas did not get QOs and draft choice comp won’t be required. Haven’t seen a direct report on Moustakas but I believe he’s not eligible for a QO.

Ten players including Abreu, Baumgarner, Cole, Donaldson, Odorizzi, Ozuna, Rendon, Will Smith, Strasburg, Wheeler, did get QOs according to MLBTR.
