If the rumors play out, I think the Reds feel Senzel really is plan A in CF.
blech.
It'll also mean Galvis is the starting 2B.

The off-season is a a fluid situation. The nice thing about having Senzel and Galvis in the fold is the flexibility. The reds can target a SS, 2B, or CF and still play those two guys.

If this FO gives Peraza another look-see at SS, after seeing what he's done here and telling everyone they're serious about building a CONTENDING team in '20 (improving offensive production) then they have no idea how to do it (LOL). They're idiots. They "stumbled" onto a one of the finer defensive SSs in MLB last off-season in Iglesias. He surprised most with his offensive production with the Reds. Many, justifiably, questioned him, said he would regress.
You decide to let Jose walk. Fine. But supplanting him with Peraza is what call I putting both feet in and whole-hog regression (LOL).

Peraza being on the roster in 2020 will kill any confidence I have in contention next year. He is bad at baseball. Period. End of story.
What would you say.....ya do here?
I guess a lot depends on if you see Peraza’s 2018 numbers (which would make for a nice SS offensive production) as his normal level numbers, or 2019 as his normal numbers.
No one is denying that in 2019, Peraza had a horrible season. But there was such a difference between his 2018 season (which was probably league average at the SS position), and his 2019 season which was terrible. And I cannot help but feel that a part of his early struggles the first couple months of the season had a little to do with the fact that he had a great spring training, finishing camp as the established starting SS, only to be unexpectedly moved to 2B at the last minute due to Scooter’s injury. And it certainly didn’t help for both Iglesias and Dietrich to have their career months at the same time.
I would like to see if he can bounce back, or if 2018 was just a fluke.

He has a very well established track record of 4% walk rate and he has little power. Does not add up to promising OPS.

Really? He can run, field multiple positions, has an arm and those are parts of baseball. He however plays a game with emphasis on contact over power and refuses to take a walk. He might be bad at 2019 baseball but historically he's everything a baseball player has been since the 19th century. He might be bad at baseball but he will get a full pension I bet and likely ten years in the game.

The Reds need better players if they're going to compete for a playoff spot. They can't risk giving Peraza another 400 PA next season in hopes he'll turn things around.

Everything is perfect, but there is a lot of room for improvement. --- Shunryu Suzuki-roshi
Only 10 Reds have ever had 180 or more hits in a season age 24 and younger since 1900
Peraza's issue is slugging and walks makes him the only one who had a below average OPS
Despite that, he's not gonna get DFA'd
