    Re: Offseason Trade Targets

Why isn't there more discussion about Villar from Baltimore? I know he makes 10.2M or so in arb next season but is going into his age 29 season and put up a 4 WAR season last year. Switch hitter that can play SS and steal bases and has power. Baltimore has even suggested non tendering him due to the cost and them shedding payroll. Baltimore is looking for pitching depth and a veteran SS. Swap Galvis who is about 5M less and add in Romano and Alf Rod.

If he is non-tendered I’d be on him like flies on stink.

How about Jason Heyward? Reds could probably pick him up for cheap if they take on the remaining $65M of his contract.

Also saw this idea on Twitter:

    CIN gets:
    CF Jackie Bradley Jr

    BOS gets:
    OF Scott Schebler
    RH Sal Romano

I’d go after Kris Bryant. Put him or Suarez in LF.

He has two seasons left, and he’d be cheaper than Betts,

Blue Jays would consider moving Lourdes Gurriel Jr. for starting pitching.

    Trade idea with Toronto:

Reds trade: Anthony Desclafani and Vladimer Gutierrez(AAA)

Blue Jays trade: Lordes Gurriel(LF) Adam Kloffenstein (A-) RHP #10 prospect and Griffen Conine (A) OF #15 prospect

-the Reds then could sign Dallas Kuechel to be the Lefty 4th starter

If there is flexibility to move Senzel to 2B, I am game for paying this kind of price for JBJ or Heyward. If not, both represent rather expensive back-ups.

Schebler isn't desired by anyone... including the Reds.

    Blue Jays Give:
    Gurriel and Kay (LHP)

    For
    Mahle

I feel the Reds are bound to deal or sign another starter making money that won't allow them to be behind Mahle. Kay gives more depth at the minors and Gurriel solves an obvious need.

My hope is that the Reds get a LHP for the rotation.

The Blue Jays are not giving up both for Mahle. Kay is one of the two pieces they received for Marcus Stroman. They need pitching too much to turn around and trade him. I am not sure that they would trade Gurriel for Mahle alone.

With our recent trade history...I prefer to shy away from this topic.

Does the Reds and Pirates dislike for each other extend into the FO's....I saw Marte mentioned as a trade option, and that would make lots of sense to me.

I would guess that Marte would be very expensive for the Reds since we are division rivals. He makes sense in our lineup if you ignore the PED suspension, however, do the Reds want to face the talent that they would give up for him for the next 10 years at 18 (11%) games per year?
