Besides Betts or Marte, do you we think we can pluck another productive CF via trade from a team?

Seems like we need to get Senzel back to 2b to minimize injury, and I'd actually value much higher average than power at CF.

Joc Pederson will probably be available. Jackie Bradley Jr. too. Betts is probably not an option for the Reds.

Shogo Akiyama is a potential FA target.

If talking with LA, I'd go after Verdugo over Joc. Controlled longer, played CF, better average....wonder if they'd be interested in Rasiel

What about a trade with Atlanta?

Atlanta trades: Ender Inciarte-CF and Charlie Culberson(SS/OF/1b) together their owed @7.5

Reds Trade: Raisel Iglesius and Tucker Barnhart @12

-I think it works for both sides as it fits both needs and allows for each to allocate funds elsewhere?

Why would Cleveland do that trade? What is in that package that would motivate the Indians to trade a top 5-10 player in baseball?

    Re: Offseason Trade Targets

I've seen fans of the Yankees and Twins both mention the desire to obtain Bauer.

I find it highly doubtful that Bauer gets traded after the Reds hired his pitching guru.

However, Desclafani is basically the same fit -- solid RHP with only one year of control left. So I wonder what a package from the Yankees or Twins might look like. Blue Jays might be in that mix as well. I ran these proposals through the Trade Valuator mentioned in another thread...

    NYY gets:
    RH Desclafani
    OF Siri
    IF Blandino

    CIN gets:
    OF Frazier
    RH Loasaiga

    -- or --

    MIN gets:
    RH Desclafani

    CIN gets:
    SS Gordon
    LH Thorpe

I'm guessing Arizona may non-tender Steven Souza, Jr.

Cincinnati could plug him into CF as a league average bat (or better) and help the team fairly cheaply.

It likely wouldn't cost much either.

His age 28 year was an anomaly. As a backup or insurance I'd bring him in, but I think the Reds could get more certain production in CF from other sources.

Verdugo would take a lot to get. Not sure LA would give him up unless you bowl them over with Suarez or Castillo.

Saw this proposal from a Mariners fan...

    SEA gets:
    SP Mahle
    3B India

    CIN gets:
    OF Haniger
    CA Narvaez
    RP
    Prospect

    I like it.

Marco Gonzalez would make an interesting target as well.

That's a no brainer for the Reds. I can't imagine why Seattle would do such a deal.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Joc Pederson wouldn't be horrible as a trade target.

    He projects to be a 125+ wRC+ CF with a 3.0 fWAR.

Platooning him with Senzel in CF for a season might make for an interesting plan.

The right handed portion of a platoon doesn’t play much. I doubt Reds would put Senzel in that spot.

If Reds got Peterson, then Senzel likely moves to second. Somebody else would need to platoon in CF.

Would note that Peterson has played corner OF more and CF much less of late.

I don't see why Senzel couldn't play 2B on some days and CF on others.

Sign Jonathan Schoop or someone else who murders southpaws, and it works really well.

Reds could do that. But I’d be surprised. Senzel needs his own position. Asking him to play both CF and second base on a regular basis is very sub-optimal. Every once in awhile, fine, a different matter.

And Reds aren’t signing a Jonathan Schoop to play second base only against LHP. He’s a starting player.

Peterson played CF for 5 innings total last year. His CF time has been reduced dramatically over the last few seasons.

I guess anything could happen, Joc has a good bat, but I don’t see this scenario.
