    Re: Offseason Trade Targets

Certainly an interesting scenario. It would appear to put us over budget. Price is due 90 million over 3 years. This would make it 54 mill or 18 per season. And Castallanos would be 19 mill per season. SO that's 37 million and your taking on Seagar who is estimated to get 7 million in arb.

And all the guys we lose are incredibly cheap. A little too "out there" for me.

    What if (for fun):

    Reds get:
    Correa
    Benintendi
    Eat $15M/ of Price’s contract

    Red Sox get:
    Winker
(Price contract taken completely off books)

    Astros get:
    Price ($18M/)
    India
    Siri
    Galvis

Can’t imagine the Astros going for that, but sure if I’m the Reds.

Otherwise, what about Winker and Mahle for Marte? Who says no to that?

Colorado says no without thinking. Trevor Story is an All Star caliber player just below the very top tier at his position (kind of like Suarez at his position). Mahle has become more suspect than prospect at this point (Imagine him in Colorado) and India is coming off of a disappointing year in the mid minors. Add Greene and Stephenson and they might think about it (I'd do all four of those guys for Story BTW).
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

If include Greene in a deal for Seager, but not Story. I would include Stephenson, though. In fact on that trade site I've mocked a couple deals that included him. Would make it easier of the Reds traded for Contreras though.

If the Reds want an upgrade over Galvis at SS, Lodolo is the only asset they can dangle that gets it done. Nobody wants Jonathon India.

I dont think I understand that at all. Story has been a much better player for at least the last 2 years and hasn’t had significant injury problems for the last 3 straight seasons like Seager has. I would trade like twice as much for Story as I would Seager.

    Story Home/Away Splits:
    Coors OPS: 1.043
    Road OPS: .780

A big chunk of that road OPS is a .664 OPS at SF and a .692 OPS at SD. My guess is that playing for the Reds in the NL central he would put up an OPS in the .830-.875 range while playing GG defense.

All that being said, I still like him as a target behind the nearly unavailable trio of Correa, Seager, and Lindor.

We all know his home OPS in GABP will be well above those numbers, and the Cubs pitching staff is on the downswing. I stand by my .850ish estimate.

Doesn’t really concern me, it’s hard for me to think of the last big time Rockies hitter who left Coors and didn’t level out. There are way more Matt Holliday’s than there are Vinny Castilla’s at this point.

I'd make that deal. Blackmon's contact isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Plus, it solves two major slots in the lineup.
