I agree it’s not something to be overly concerned about and I’m aware that plenty of other teams are bidding on these guys. My thoughts were more about the level of player. We got a guy on tier 3 or 4 and those on tiers 1-2-3 haven’t chosen a different team. It could very well be nothing at all but let’s also face facts the Reds don’t have a great history lately and everyone knows that. They are spending how and might next year also but after that if it doesn’t work it could be sell off city.

Players aren’t idiots. They can see when young teams are starting to peak. Didn’t stop Harper and Machado last year when they both signed with sub .500 teams.

Winter Meetings forecast: 11 bold predictions
https://www.mlb.com/news/winter-meetings-predictions7) Marcell Ozuna will sign with the Reds
Cincinnati smells opportunity in the National League Central, and that has already prompted it to make a big -- and surprising -- splash for Mike Moustakas as a second baseman. The work of improving this offense is not over, however.
Moustakas might have been a slightly unconventional fit, but Ozuna slides into the Reds’ outfield seamlessly, perhaps making Jesse Winker or Aristides Aquino available in a trade for pitching depth.

I'm almost positive the Reds will get at least one more semi-big name this year, whether that be a bat or pitcher.

One question is whether the Reds should go all in on pitching; and forget another starting bat.
I’m not in favor, but it’s not a terrible idea.
Reds still have: Winker/Ervin; Votto; Suarez; Moustakas; Senzel; Aquino; Galvis; Barnhart/Casali; Pitcher.
I’ve seen worse. There’s no team speed, Winker/Senzel may not be too durable, bottom of order is so-so. But there’s lefty and righty hitting. Winker still is a top OBP hitter. Would probably need one or two very good bench players in case Winker or Senzel continue with injuries or Aquino regresses.
Not that the FA pitchers are flocking to GABP, but there aren’t that many attractive FA position players remaining, don’t want to make a move just for the heck of it. And don’t want to overpay in trade with player assets.

As stated in the post above, I think the Reds will make (at least) two more quasi-major moves this winter. At least one significant trade and one OR TWO FA adds. I could see them signing an upgrade bat and arm, then dealing for a younger (less expensive) more controllable bat.
I don’t think we’ll see Ozuna or Castellanos. Im guessing Didi or Dickerson and a bullpen piece.
Heyman says Ozuna rumor to White Six is false......
