Tim McCarver: Baseball Quotes
I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

The #Reds have acquired RHP José De León from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash and a player to be named later

Oh and his 2017 minor stats were decent too 3.05 ERA. 2018 wiped out by Tommy John. 2019 3.70 ERA in AA-AAA as a starter. Career 11.9 SO/9 as mainly a starter and 1.158 WHIP

Solid pickup for next to nothing it seems...

I like it. He figured into the Rays plans two springs ago but his season derailed by TJ. He’s back now and has the tools our star studded pitching people to work with

This kind of move has huge upside and little downside. The more of these we can make, the better.

José De León was ranked as the #25 prospect in the Rays' farm system. He struck out 74 in 56 innings as a starter at AAA this year
Good move.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Is he the guy that came up through the Dodger system?
edit: yes, yes he is
Obviously the guy we give up will be a non 40 man roster guy

I remember when he had 14 Ks in a game once in the Dodgers system. People were crazy excited about him.

He’s always had huge strikeout numbers. I like this.

A series of injury issues and strike-out stuff. Sounds like a guy about to be converted to relief. Might be a hidden gem if that can help him hold up and go all out for three or four hitters. Worth a shot IMO.

The thing that kinda bursts my bubble here is knowing that the Rays pretty much tossed him to the curb. They seem to be good at this stuff.
