Great, love his defense. Had a career offensive year. But you're gonna pay him 7 million. Didi signed for 14 million. I'd much rather have Didi.

    Incredibly disappointing the Reds wouldn’t do/beat 1 year/$14M. That would’ve been perfect.

    Re: Didi to Philly

My guess is Didi wanted to play for the team that's loaded with talent. The Reds are a team for the future. If you're signing a one yr deal then you'd definitely choose Philly over the Reds. These things don't always come down to the highest bidder

You might already have Didi..... in Galvis. Numbers were similar last year. I know most people expect rebound.....

There is nothing to suggest they wouldn't/didn't.

It looks like Didi wants to rebuild his value and test UFA next year. He was obviously comfortable in doing that with a stacked Phillies team.

Imagine if they get Rendon. They’ve said they don’t care about lux tax.

IMO, it still takes pitching, and even with Wheeler the Phils don’t have it yet.

The east is going to be pretty competitive next year. Marlins may lose 120.

So why were they in on Didi?

I think it’s more likely than not that Galvis is the SS on Opening Day, but this place usually puts a ton of stock in FO quotes yet is totally ignoring the “Only 1B, 2B, and 3B positions are set” one.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    Re: Didi to Philly

So when Galvis needs a day off, or goes on the DL, these are the Reds options:

    Blandino

Suarez to SS; Moustakas to 3B and VanMeter to 2B

    Farmer to SS

Get ready to sign Iglesias or Peraza.

Some of us thought the writing was on the wall the day Galvis was acquired last year. He’s was a starting middle infielder with a very reasonable option, seemed like Iglesias’ replacement.

Didi would have been nice, but this isn’t a huge loss. He wanted a one-year contract. The Reds need to focus on more than 2020. They need to build for a several-year window.

Freddy is not Didi. And never will be offensively or defensively. And even if he proves me wrong, we have no backup for him.
