This is will be my most disliked thread ever- the Reds need to trade

    Eugenio Suarez
There is about to be a feeding frenzy for top 3B players. The Reds have one on a rediculously friendly team contract.

With Rendon off board, Josh Donaldson’s market becomes clearer with 3b hungry teams: #Dodgers #Rangers and (key) 3 in NL East: #Phillies #Nationals #Braves. Phils’ budget might be too tight but rest will assure Donaldson a strong pay day. Then Cubs could act with Bryant

    Year Age Tm Salary S
    2020 28 Cincinnati Reds $9,535,714 5.061
    2021 29 Cincinnati Reds $10,785,714
    2022 30 Cincinnati Reds $11,285,714
    2023 31 Cincinnati Reds $11,285,715
    2024 32 Cincinnati Reds $11,285,715
    2025 33 Cincinnati Reds *$15,000,000 $15M Team Option, $2M Buyout

The Reds need to shop Suarez and shop him now. His contract, in contrast to those who are in play and who just signed, is amazing and allows for many to play for him.
the demand must be high and still allow the team to complete.

I propose Suarez to the Dodgers for Seager, Pederson, Downs, and May or Gray. It allows both teams to upgrade. For the Reds, Pederson goes to Center, Seager to SS, Moose to 3rd and Senzel to 2nd.

I'm open to the idea of trading Suarez but I need a lot more control on the main guys I'm getting than one yr of Peterson and 2 yrs of Seager. You're trading 6 yrs of control of Suarez. Furthermore I'm not even so sure if Joc Peterson is even a CF anymore. He hasn't played there regularly for a number of yrs. There's a reason the Dodgers acquired Pollack

Well under this there would be 6 year control of Dustin May or Josiah Gray and the return of Jeter Downs as well.

On the other hand, even if you get 75% of Suarez this season for the rest of his deal, why would you even consider trading him? 3rd basemen who can hit and field don't grow on trees.
The Reds have at least two potential ones in Moose and Senzel to replace Suarez and India further down the pike. It would be a matter of trading from a point of strength into an extreme sellers market. I don't think this will be the case in a week so it is a huge iron is hot moment.

Why would the Dodgers pay that price for Suarez when Bryant would cost less in prospects and Donaldson would cost nothing in prospects?

Money isn't an issue for the Dodgers so I doubt you're going to see them fork over that kind of package. They have a reputation of being a stingy trade partner.

If you can get a haul for him, I would definitely look into it, especially with Moustakas an imperfect fit defensively at 2B. But they would absolutely have to get multiple MLB ready guys at positions of need for me to even consider this. I don’t think Seager and Joc is the right return.

I'll be honest, the idea of trading Suarez is worse than Castillo.

My philosophy is that no player is ever off limits. But, the likelihood of another team offering a deal I'd accept for Suarez is improbable to the point of impossible.

In addition, I hesitate to trade guys recently signed to extensions. It certainly won't cause other players to want to follow suit on that.

I like trading Saurez. I like trading Castillo as well. No player should be off-limits if they can be traded and better the team.

I believe Betts, and Price, can be had with the right deal.

Perhaps, but it shouldn't involve Suarez or Castillo.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

It would take something like the Braves offering 4 of their top 10 prospects, but there are teams out there with third base needs that could get me to swing a deal if they wanted Geno bad enough.

In theory, this isn't a bad idea at all. I'd agree that the main pieces would need to have more control. I wonder if the Dodgers would move Lux for Geno? The argument against moving Lux for Lindor is that Lux has 6 years and Lindor 2. That would be negated in a Geno trade since he's signed thru 2025.

Reds trade: Ay You Hey Knee Oh
    Dodgers trade: Seager, Lux, May

I will say this - the Reds were reluctant to move BILLY HAMILTON because he was a "Fan favorite".. Imagine the outcry from the casual fan if the Reds traded Suarez.

The only way trading Suarez would improve the team is if you could trade him for two Suarezes.

I think they should trade Lodolo and Aquino. Sell high.
