They have the Dodgers at #4 with Alex Wood in the 4 slot?

I'm surprised they have the Yankees so high.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

You know what's interesting, the teams ranked above the Reds have a clear weak link in their starting 5:
    Porcello
    Alex Wood
    JA Happ
    Joe Ross

All with ERA's above 5 or the injury question. Reds may have the best balanced rotation with no weak links.

Mega market bias. Same thing with The Dodgers.

Nah, Yankees rotation is killer. No bias there. The powers of Gerrit Cole go a long way.

I assume they are considering depth and just not talking about it.

Agreed. I think both the Yanks and Dodgers are accurately placed. Both have 2 aces and a solid back end, though I laughed at Alex Wood because its very likely someone is getting bumped from that rotation for Dustin May.

As the Cincinnati Reds consider adding more arms to their bullpen, they will probably be counting on Lucas Sims to make a seamless transition to reliever.

Sims had a 4.60 ERA in 24 appearances (four starts) last season, striking out 57 and walking 19 in 43 innings. As a reliever, he struck out an impressive 13.7 batters per nine innings, which would’ve ranked near New York Yankees closer Aroldis Chapman.

When Sims arrived for the Reds’ annual caravan last week, he didn’t know what his role would be for the upcoming season, but it’s expected he will contribute to the bullpen. He was a starter at Triple-A Louisville last year and mostly a reliever at the big-league level.

Sims is out of minor-league options this season, which means he must be placed on waivers if he isn’t on the active roster. That makes it much more likely that the Reds will allow him to operate as a full-time reliever. The Reds did the same thing last year with right-hander Robert Stephenson, who gained more trust in high-leverage situations by the end of the season.

Sims held lefty hitters to a .172 batting average and .671 on-base plus slugging percentage last year, which could increase his value. The Reds have three lefty relievers, Amir Garrett, Cody Reed and Josh D. Smith, on the 40-man roster.

Dustin May's hair is already ace level.

Also, if I had to pick one young pitcher to a major step forward in 2020, it would be Julio Urias.

I've projected Sims to the Reds bullpen all offseason. Barring something unforeseen, that's what makes the most sense. I do see him getting emergency starts, though.

High strikeout rate, high walk rate, high homer rate pitcher so far. Low hits/nine innings last season as reliever. Worth a try but fans shouldn’t get all excited just yet.
