Interesting. I wonder if Derek Johnson thinks that spring training drags too long for the pitchers?

The only thing that might hold the Reds back is that he is out of options. I. Do love his GB rate.

The odd thing about him was that when he was really pitching well in AAA last year, he didn't have a great GB rate (only 37%). He was a different pitcher between AAA and the majors last year alone.

I would probably prefer him having a 40-man spot over Jose Siri, Sal Romano, Tejay Antone, Justin Shafer, Joel Kuhnel or Josh Smith, but I do not think he would even be a lock to make this bullpen.

So about 45 minutes ago C Trent Rosencrans tweeted that Dick Williams expects the Reds to add to the big-league roster before the start of Spring.

The Reds have spent $100 million in free-agent contracts between second baseman Mike Moustakas, outfielder Shogo Akiyama and lefty starter Wade Miley. Williams and crew will have plenty to talk about on their caravan stops, but the biggest question is still what’s next? Will the team add to the big-league roster?

“I think it’s very possible that we’ll see additional free-agent signings or potential trades. I’m pretty sure there will be some changes between now and camp,” Williams said.
As someone with a weather background who's said "There's a 50% chance it might rain today" as well as someone with a bit of southern influence who's said "I'm fixin' to get ready to..." more than once, I approve of Dick Williams' statement.

An annual tradition, Reds Caravan had its send-off on Thursday at the AC Marriott Hotel across from Great American Ball Park. Not only can president of baseball operations Dick Williams point to moves already made, but he also noted the club isn’t done.

“I think it’s very possible that we’ll either see additional free-agent signings or, potentially, trades. I’m pretty sure there’ll be changes between now and camp.”

During the 2019 caravan, Williams was working the phone while on the bus as he and general manager Nick Krall negotiated the trade that brought Gray from the Yankees. With the Reds not quite done trying to improve -- bullpen help and possibly a shortstop are needed -- Williams could be busy again.

“I will definitely pick my seat on the bus in such a way that I’ll have privacy in case discussions should occur,” Williams said. “I’ve done everything from [sitting in] the bathroom to having the bus pull over to having them turn up the music. Anything to get a little privacy when I need to. I’m sure I’ll be on the phone at some point over the next few days.”

I'm ready for some more player news. Tired of only hearing about Cora, Hinch and Beltran

Its gonna get worse before it dies down, Dodger players asking to be awarded the 17 & 18 titles for instance. The Altuve/Bregman allegations, the Red Sox sanctions tba, and finally the backlash coming against players thru the media, especially social media. Its a mess and I suspect more to come inre other teams cheating.

The Dodgers went 3-4 in World Series home games in 17 & 18 allowing 30 runs in those 7 games. I don't want to hear any crying from their players.

Oh their demand isnt going anywhere except it creates fodder for the scoial media crowd. The Astros and Red Sox are going to be crucified, imo, to save other teams and the game from further embarrasment. Other teams are involved too but I think Manfred will bury it as much as possible.

Apparently the Reds are interested in BROCK HOLT, older brother of STEVE HOLT.
“The crows seem to be calling my name,” thought Caw.

Holt can hit and plays multiple positions. Depends on the cost but he'd be a good acquisition

The perfect Cincinnati area type of player. Leads the league in scrappiness. A modern day Ryan Freel.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Dick Williams on whether the #Reds will make more moves: "I’m never fully satisfied, so we’ll keep looking. We still have some resources. I hope we keep improving.”
