In a vacuum I like this signing. But they are going to have to make a big addition to the lineup as this isn’t moving them much closer to a playoff team.

Useful rotation depth, but not going to move the needle.

We’re talking about the 5th spot in the rotation here. He’s a rock solid veteran LHP who has a history with Mr Derek Johnson. I’m down with this for sure.
Now with the saved money go sign Castellanos and 69 relievers.

I hadn’t mentioned it but I was hoping for Gio to give us depth. This fits that bill and will do.
I’m also a little concerned by how few batters he strikes out anymore combined with how hittable he’s been the last couple years. He could potentially fall off a cliff pretty hard if either of those things continues to slip, but it’s not a ton of money either way.
Last three seasons, 4.62 FIP, 4.31 ERA.
He’s basically a lefty Mahle. Maybe a hair better, assuming Mahle doesn’t mproves.
