I have also always confused Miley with Wade Davis, which on that note, I wonder how well he’d take to a bullpen spot if Mahle really takes the 5th spot by the horns or something.
Hopefully DJ can right the ship a bit and Miley can be a serviceable piece of the rotation. I would have definitely preferred Keuchel, but I don't hate this. Hopefully it means a big bat is coming as well.

This could be a solid low risk high reward kinda move

Agreed. Solid veteran added to the back of the rotation and he's a LHP to boot.
I'm assuming the reason he gets less money is that he's been unreliable innings-wise the past few years, but his numbers have been pretty good the past two. Low risk with a potentially high reward for the Reds.
If Derek Johnson is the key to him returning to his 2018 performance level, it becomes an absolute steal.

I don’t really care what Miley did in 2017, he’s been solid in 2018 and 2019. And I’m not anti-Mahle by any means, but he had ample opportunity to hold down a rotation spot and fell apart as the year went on. Would love to see him dominate AAA and then come back to the Reds as either a reliever or fill in starter due to injury.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Solid signing. One of the biggest things I noticed just glancing through last year’s stats is that the 1st Inning was, BY FAR, his worst inning.
From Bobbay Nightingale Jr Jr:
Before a rough September, Wade Miley had a 3.06 ERA in his first 28 starts with the Astros.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I hate to have low expectations, but short of falling ass-backwards into a Wash/LA/Hou caliber rotation, this really is as good of a rotation we can hope for (Not counting a mid season rental). They could compete in the postseason, though I wouldn’t favor them against one of those monster rotations.

If I recall, Miley was really good last year for like the 1st 70% of season....then nose dived toward the end.
I want to like this but it’s not happening yet.
