Phil was very good this year but I’m happy he is retiring, this year was the ceiling for him.
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

Stafford will be traded. Could be a fit in Indy?

A lot of teams could be interested in Stafford.

Elway would grab Stafford if he were in charge, but he's not anymore. Could be why he was forced upstairs as Ownership knew how much it would cost and that Elway would pay.

49ers seem like the best fit.

What I am reading out of Ballard's comments is that the Colts will not look for a QB in the draft.

    Reports say he prefers Indy.

I would think all the FA QB's would like to play for the Colts as well.

I think replicating the Carson Palmer deal for Stafford (a 2021 1st round pick, 2022 2nd round pick) makes the most sense for all involved parties. Hard to imagine the Lions getting much more than that with Stafford in his 30s and only two years left on his deal. Indy drafts well enough that the price would not be prohibitive and would still have plenty of cap space. I think Stafford would make the Colts the second best AFC team on paper heading into next year. Maybe the second best team in the NFL, period.

You think it would take that much?

That seems way too high considering cost and age. Alex Smith was traded for a 3rd rounder and a solid CB. I would guess Stafford nets just a bit more than that.

I think it will definitely take a 1st because there should be multiple teams after him. If San Francisco offers #12, then I'd think the Colts will need something similar to what I proposed to top that.

I could see the Lions flipping the 1st they get for Stafford along with #7 to Miami for the 3rd pick.
