You're pretty confident you're drafting a franchise QB. The question is? ... are any in the upcoming draft seen at that level and worth that sacrifice/risk? Lawrence? Fields? Just not that certain. And this shortened, interrupted season due to the pandemic really doesn't give us a good window to really evaluate these "coming out" QBs.
Well I think Lawrence is absolutely at that level. I keep hearing that he's the surest thing since Luck. Any team that wants to wrestle him from the Jets (in my opinion) would have to pay a King's ransom unless the Jets are idiots. (and they have shown that in the past).

And even then the Jets may not do it. In fact probably wouldn't do it.

As far as Eason, sure there is a CHANCE that Eason is a franchise QB. Dak Prescott lasted until very late in the 4th, and Russell Wilson was a third. But those kinds of hits are VERY rare. I don't think the QB situation for Colts is bleak. I think there are likely to be a fair number of veteran QB's hit he market again this year. Guys like Dalton, Stafford, Ryan, Newton.

It's just that the Colts look to be too good to either get a sure fire QB in the draft, or to give Eason any playing time to see how he looks.

As an outside, interested observer, watching what Colts do at QB over next 2-3 years will be the story to watch.

Like I said, the Colts got gifted a game against the Bengals before their bye. Couldn't have a better team to play against.

I just have a hard time rooting for Phillip Rivers, I just can’t stand that guy.

    5-2!

    This is what Rivers brings.

He does nothing but win games.
