Shortstop Trevor Story and the Colorado Rockies are in agreement on a two-year, $27.5 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. It buys out the final two years of arbitration for Story, who will reach free agency at 29 as part of the vaunted Class of 2021-22.

When was the last time Jim Bowden has been right about anything? I can't imagine them instituting the DH before the CBA expires in December 2021

I don't know. I think a DH in the NL plus 26 man rosters is exactly the sort of thing MLBPA would want to GET in negotiations. If it is implemented, that's 30 extra jobs for the roster increas that happens this year and 15 players that get to possibly KEEP jobs next year. It's tricky because it could be seen as a way for teams to keep players down in the minors and sign veteran older players, but then again you never know how the Players Association would react.Originally Posted by Sea Ray

The DH will most certainly not be a good faith offering. It'll have to be a major negotiating point for the players to earn and for the owners to get something significant back in return
Or it most certainly will be, to prevent any sort of work stoppage when the league is raking in money.

I just read the proposed return SD is throwing out there, and it's terrible.
Has his value cratered? Can the Sox not afford his contract anymore?

If a solid OF (Margot or Naylor) and a young, cheap pitcher (Quantrill or Lucchesi) are the main pieces in a San Diego offer for Mookie Betts, why not dangle Nick Senzel and Tyler Mahle and some expensive extra piece (Raisel Iglesias)?
