    LA leads the way in the willingness to go to arbitration, with four guys (Baez, Taylor, Muncy, and Pederson). They may be willing to deal a couple of these guys for cheaper alternatives.

    Houston (Diaz and Springer) is another big-market teams who is being aggressive with arbitration-level players. Boston (Benintendi and Eduardo Rodriguez), Colorado (Wolters and Story), Milwaukee (Hader and Suter), Philadelpha (Neris and Realmuto), and Arizona (Ahmed and Bradley) are too.

    I'd be willing to give up, say, Winker, Kuhnel, and Galvis for Taylor, Baez, and Pederson, pay the extra $12M in arbitration, and roll with that squad.
    Chris Taylor is an interesting and realistic target who would be an upgrade to Galvis. If he could be had for something minor and salary relief, I prefer that to dealing Senzel for a one or two year rental. Wonder if the Reds would take Joe Kelly off their hands if it could work. Lucas Sims and Freddy Galvis for Kelly, Taylor and a middling prospect, say Caleb Ferguson. Kelly's contract looks pretty stinky, but he could bounce back with his late inning stuff and Taylor is a significant upgrade IMO. Ferguson would be another solid lefty option for the AAA shuttle.
    All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

    I'd be ok with getting Taylor. However, I'd want to keep Galvis. He provides nice insurance and I doubt the Dodgers would really want him anyway with Seager and Lux.

    Ken Rosenthal
    @Ken_Rosenthal
    Free-agent third baseman Todd Frazier in agreement with #Rangers on one-year, $5M contract, source tells The Athletic. The deal, which includes a club option, is pending a physical. First with agreement:
    Mark Feinsand
    @Feinsand
    Source: Todd Frazier gets $5 million guaranteed from Rangers. He’ll get $3.5 million in 2020, with a $5.75 million club option for 2021 (or a $1.5 million buyout).

    A few notes on Arenando:

    He has an opt out after 2021

    He’s owed $35M a season for ten next 6 seasons if he doesn’t opt out.

    His home/road splits are similar to Story’s, though not as extreme.

    Sucks, feels like a miniature version of what happened with Chapman. Obviously not exactly the same thing, but still feels like we're on the business end of it.

    The reverse coors effect is well documented.

    Feels to me like the Reds basically got Ryan Madsoned. Again.

    I never was in favor of re-signing Wood given his injuries. Some projected he’d get a real contract, would have been unwise for Reds to pay him serious money at this stage.

    But on a $4 million guaranteed contract, with incentives, I’m surprised they didn’t sign him. Maybe he just preferred LA. Maybe Reds are holding fire with something more major in mind.
