Me and Kal share the same birthday, August 20th. I thought in 1987 he was going to be good for a while.

Anyone who read James' encyclopedia's in the 70's could not wait for Daniels to get to the Majors as he breezed through the Minors. He had the skillset with the bat that he easily could have succeeded in the Majors if he was able to begin there a couple of seasons earlier.
"One problem with people who have no vices is that they're pretty sure to have some annoying virtues."
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
Fun read

He only played with cincy 3 years?! My memory stinks
MLB.com had an article on every teams cult hero. Daniels was the Reds choice. I have pasted the link to his article below. One thing I forgot about was he had coin flip for salary one spring. He was asking for $325,000 and Marge had $300,000. Kal won the coin the flip and an extra $25,000.

WOW!
“As he moved his way up the ladder, he could always hit,” Browning said. “I’ve told people he’s the best hitter I ever saw. I liked him over Tony Gwynn and everybody else.”

I remember Daniels as the guy who never hit whenever I was watching games. It happens sometimes.. A guy can be the best hitter on a team, but just never seems to perform when YOU'RE watching and the opposite happens that someone with a .122 BA seems to hit great those days you're actually watching. Pitchers do it too.. Oh well..
Those were three crazy busy years for the Reds. The roster almost completely turned over while they stayed in contention. Kal also felt like the missing link when they won it all in 1990. He seemed like a core guy in that cohort. Probably the most talented hitter I've seen come up from the Reds system. It really is a shame his knees were made of popcorn.
I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Kal is short for Kalvoski, which sounds Russian and may explain his general disdain for Cincinnati.
