Damn. One of the few drummers who non-drummers knew all about.

Does not compute - he was Rush

I understand not liking Rush and respect your opinion on the band, I just don’t understand what you mean.

I wouldn't say he was Rush, he was their second drummer after all

    Any help?

You understand his central place in Rush’s music. In addition to keeping Rush’s songs rhythmically rooted, Peart wrote most of the lyrics to 2112, and many other Rush highlights like limelight, free will, something for nothing. Rush and BOC are 1970s prog rock royalty.

If he wasn't the best drummer ever, he's in the top 3. RIP.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I would say he was. He took over in 74 and wrote and was the heart musically of every song they are known for and that will continue to be played on the radio indefinitely. He was absolutely Rush. Watch the documentary on the band: Lee and Lifeson literally say this themselves.

Rush was my second concert (Primus opened up). My brother took me and gave me a drink of his beer.

The music didnt appeal to me, he was an incredible drummer.

Hendrix and Stevie Ray same thing- I recognize the off the chart talent, I just dont sit around listening to it.

And this is what I meant.

It's like hating the Pats but recognizing Brady is the best qb ever.

The music was too much for me, but damn- I had friends who were drummers who would be in their garage throwing things because they couldnt match up what he was playing.
