2019-2020: Who is the Reds #17 Prospect???

CF Jameson Hannah has taken the #16 slot.

Please, discuss why you are voting for who you are voting for.....this is a slow time of the year so it's more than welcomed.

I've added OF'er Mariel Bautista to the poll.

(OF) Mariel Bautista - The Reds signed Mariel as an International Free Agent in November 2014 ($unk bonus - INT (Dominican Republic)). As a 21 year old Bautista hit .233 - .303 - .332 in 103 A games during the 2019 season. The best way to describe Bautista is "Siri-lite". What I mean by that is he is an average to plus runner but a notch below Siri and is an average to plus defender but not too the level of Siri. He needs to develop more power, and he has the body to do just that. He has a better eye than Siri, so that's a plus in his direction. He probably could stay at CF for a couple of more years at least but with the CF depth the Reds have he's likely getting moved to a corner position full-time in 2020.

^If you are voting other, please make sure to tell me who the other vote is for in the comment section.

Vlad for me. He's had a terrible year and a big drop, but he still is graded with a 60 Fastball, 55 Curve and 60 change-up. At this point we're looking for who might put it together with a possibility of being a good big leaguer. I think those grades give him a better chance to be a solid big leaguer than anybody left and probably over half of the guys already picked. Chances are he and most of these guys fade away, but he seems the best possibility at this point.

His curveball is his best pitch, his fastball is average or a touch above, his changeup is his worst pitch.

Gutierrez again. Liked the way he closed the season, he's been through a year of AAA, has big league breaking stuff.

I went with Johnson again. Stuck on him until he wins.

I'll likely close this poll a few hours early thursday night (depending on whether or not I'm near a pc then).

So that i can get the next one going at a normal time.

Don't wait until the last minute to vote

At this point, I'm trying to figure out if I prefer Ivan Johnson's mediocre Dayton campaign to the clean slate of the bonus baby, Braylin Minier.

Gutierrez is a reliever-at-best at this point, so I don't really understand the support he's receiving (beyond name recognition)...

Gutierrez has three above average pitches per the reports. That's more reason to hope for big league success than any of the no names still on the list. I'm skeptical, but compared to the rest of the list...

The reports I've read give him one plus pitch (breaking ball), an above-average pitch (fastball), and a crappy changeup. That's a typical middle relief arsenal. It's comparable to Ryan Hendrix, who... oh, also has a bunch of votes. Yeah, these options stink...

I voted for Packy. I think he has a chance to be a good BOR starter and swing man. I thought about Vlad but his stats this past year were really a step back. Both will eventually throw big league innings of some kind most likely.

A lot of conflicting information. MLB.com says his fastball hits 98 (which I thought was surprising and had him more in the 92 to 94 range in my mind) and grades his change-up as a 60 pitch. They actually show his curve at 55 which is the lowest grade of the three. His performance matches better with your report than the one on MLB.com.

AT this point, if anybody thinks there is a pitcher with two grade 60 pitches and another at 55, that seems like the guy to vote for, so that's the vote I made. Hendrix, BTW, shows a 70 fastball and a 55 curve with only those two pitches, but that could work in the bullpen.

What it means to me is that this far down the list, we really don't have much info to really differentiate one guy form the other.

We must have very different definitions of "mediocre." Webster's (which I use) says mediocre = not very good. A 20 year old hitting above league average with a 104 wRC+ and playing shortstop is certainly a step (or two) above not very good.
