How are the Cubs supposed to compete with big spenders like the Reds in their division?

    4 year deal, per Sheldon

Given that Castellanos is 27, this is basically the Reds buying his prime. Excellent deal.

Per Heyman, deal contains at least one opt-out.

it really has been a bizarro world this offseason where the reds have money to spend and the cubs are completely cash-strapped. i love it. i know it won't last, but for this one offseason, it was a beautiful thing. the cubs wanted shogo but can't even afford a player who makes $7 million per season. this is what happens when their boy genius theo hands out several awful contracts to people like tyler chatwood.

Folks... this front office has done EXACTLY what they said they would do this offseason. So proud of Dick and Co.

and they ain't done yet. i have no doubt this move will lead to a trade that will bring a shortstop. they will also add at least one good reliever imo.

so much fun. hats off, reds.

Finally the Reds get someone I've been begging for them to get!

I've been wanting Cast since the deadline and it stunk seeing him light it up for the Cubs after they traded for him.

I'm so glad Ozuna picked ATL instead.

    This is huge!

Considering the DH is likely coming to NL in 2 years in the new CBA, the last 2 years of that deal make even more sense.

Perfect age for a 4 yr FA year. We should get the best of him.
