    Reds considering trading Nick Senzel

Per Heyman after the Castellanos signing broke. It would be crazy if this happened quickly like a domino effect.

If he goes it's almost a certainty that a high profile SS is coming back. Nick wouldn't be the whole package but he'd be most of it.

Of course they are. They have been all winter.

Yeah this isn't really surprising to me. I'd honestly be more surprised if they weren't at this point.

Still, it's strange to hear it put that way immediately after the Castellanos news broke.

Saying "Reds could consider moving Senzel" or "Senzel has been thought to possibly have been on the market this winter" etc. etc. would have seemed normal but to come out immediately after and say "Reds are considering trading Senzel" sounds like the wheels are far more in motion than we believed.

I'm not saying it comes as a surprise but it definitely sounds more concrete and it's hard to believe the Reds would let that kind of statement out unless it was an almost certainty they'll deal him.

Let’s trade Moose and put Nick at second.

Is the real unspoken assumption behind some of this action that playing time at 1b is going to have to be radically reallocated?

I highly doubt that is part of the current thinking. Now that is always subject to change but I doubt these moves are that forward thinking.

I would think Winker and/or Senzel will be moved.

We need to find a way to get more converted 3rd basemen on this team. Anyone know of any pitchers who were converted from third? It worked with Bucky Walters. Then the Reds have to find a converted 3rd baseman catcher.

If the trading partner is Cleveland they won't want Moose due to $$

Idle speculation(?) from a Chicago reporter...

Don't be surprised if @Reds keep pedal to the metal and pull off Francisco Lindor trade now. They can send @Indians a solid SS in Freddy Galvis along with Nick Senzel and a top prospect or two, like 3B Jonathan India, OF Jose Siri or SS Blake Trahan.

I think I'd go the rest of the year without pants if the Reds snagged Lindor at this point.

You can't watch the Reds from San Quentin.

We've talked a lot about Lindor, but if the Rockies move Arenado, the Senzel plus stuff for Trevor Story makes a ton of sense.

Yet there's something this rumor touches on that seems like it should be getting more media attention: are the Reds down on Senzel? They keep signing guys to play in spots they could give to him. Maybe it's health issues. Maybe they don't think his bat is going to develop. Maybe he's a little extra. Something's up.

He was far from impressive last year and he's obviously very injury prone. Combine that with his advanced age for a player with approx. 0.5 years of below average service and you have an asset you may want to short.
