What kind of return could he bring in a waiver trade? Assuming there's still value there, just curious what it might be.

Crazy surprised that it was Siri and not Schebler.

I assume the trade would be for some DSL prospect guy.

Not at all surprised at Siri over Schebler. Siri has proven over and over he just can't hit. Schebler has had success in majors. when healthy. 2020 will be Schebler's last chance in Reds org though.

    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

Probably plays out like Aquino did last year - lots of hand-wringing for cutting a guy with some upside, only to find out there was a plan all along.

What was the plan for Aquino? To hope no one else wanted him and have Jobu enhance his SLG%?

    Siri gets claimed or outrighted.

I've got no problems with Siri being DFAd. I'm not really a believer, but there are several guys who are likely exposed at the end of Spring Training who don't seem to have any real chance at making the roster. Jankowski, Schebler, Sal Romano, Mark Payton are all guys the Reds probably will need to put through waivers (or offered back to his original team in Payton's case) at some point. The Reds probably won't lose all of those guys, but it seems like any of those guys should have been in front of Siri on the chopping block. Oh well. I'm guessing some team like the Tigers, Marlins, Pirates, Giants or Orioles claim Siri with hope of upside. The option makes him a guy worth claiming. The Pirates might need the CF depth with Marte gone.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

No. Siri was worse than all those guys.

But none are making the opening day roster and will be lost anyway. Siri had an option.

He's got 7 days before he even has to be put on waivers. They'll try to gauge trade interest first.

That should tell you they think he's not worth it..... he's shown no ability to hit at higher levels.
